    • Warren Spahn, FBB pitched the 5th 1-hitter in GYBL history (2nd in 1947) as shut-out Hoboken 1-0.
    • Early Wynn, NWC tied a record by facing only 28 men during his 3-hit complete game shut-out of Dacula. Wynn allowed 3 hits and 0 walks and there were 2 double plays. He tied the record set by Tex Hughson in 1946.

April

  • The GYBL’s 2nd no hitter was thrown by Pittsburg’s Kirby Higbe against the Seattle Totems on 04/12/1947.
  • Buddy Lewis’s hit streak has finally come to an end at 35 games. Lewis ended last season with a 34 game active hitting streak while playing with the Newark Conquerors. He was cold-heartedly cut by Newark and picked up by New York who were hoping to capitalize on the publicity. Lewis had 2 hits in the home opener and then to the dismay of home faithful was held out of games two and three. Then in the final game of the series, before New York headed out on the road Lewis came up to pinch hit and popped out to first-base ending the streak. Our congratulations to Lewis on a remarkable streak!
