Conquerors take game 1!

 

     The Redcoats Higbe continued to struggle in post season play giving up two runs in the first and allowing a 4 run 7th inning. In the 7th the Conquerors were able to load the bases with no outs on singles by Cavaretta, Lewis, Heath, and Priddy. The Redcoats then brought in Caldwell who allowed the final run by walking Walker before attaining the third out.

     The Redcoats came back to score 2 in the ninth but fell short of the 5 runs needed for the tie.

     Dickson pitched 7 effective innings earning the win.

Redcoats rally in the 9th to take game 2!

 

     With the score tied going into the 9th the Redcoats came through with singles by PH Richmond and then Pesky. The conquerors then brought in Wallace to battle Wyrostek and Edwards. Wyrostek walked loading the bases for Edwards who flied out to left sending Richmond in with the go ahead run. Haynes was brought in to face York who lined a double to deep left center scoring Pesky and Wyrostek.

     Caldwell was brought in for Pittsburg and closed out the game after allowing a single and a walk.

Redcoats hold on to an early 8 run lead to take game 3!

 

     The conquerors scored first in the 1st inning on a sac fly by Lewis and a clutch hit by Evers.

     The Redcoats answered with a five run 1st inning broke open by York’s double to left center with no outs. The 5th run coming when Culberson was walked with the bases loaded.

     The Redcoats continued in the 2nd inning when Edwards lined a double to right center with two men on. York then followed with single to right scoring Wyrostek and Edwards. These runs proved to be all that was needed as Pittsburg failed to score another run for the rest of the game.

     The conquerors scored again in the 5th inning off Heath’s two run homer to right.

     Priddy homered for the conquerors in the 8th to bring them a run closer.

     Cavaretta tripled to lead off the 9th and scored on Lewis’s single up the middle. Evers followed with a single between short and third. And Heath grounded into a fielder’s choice. The game ended on Priddy’s ground ball double play to short.

Conquerors cut down 9th inning rally to win game 4!

 

     Pittsburg started Burkhart for game 4 and he pitched no hit ball for 5 innings. He added to his efforts in the third inning by doubling down the third base line and eventually scoring on Wyrostek’s single.

     Pittsburg scored again in the 4th with a triple by Christman with one on.

     Pesky started the 5th inning with a single followed by a double down the first base line by Wyrostek. Wyrostek scored the second run of the inning on a sac fly by Rowell.

     The game looked like another Redcoats win until the top of the sixth as the Conquerors came back to score two to get them back in the game. Walker led off with a bunted base hit. Fernandes came in to pinch hit for Dickson and lined a double to right center. Hack followed with a sac fly to score Walker from third. Cavaretta then doubled down the third base line sending in their second run.

     The Conquerors stole the show in the 8th as Fernandes singled to lead things off. Then came a succession of singles by Hack, Reese, Cavaretta, Lewis and Wynn to put the Conquerors ahead 6-4.

     The conqueror’s added an insurance run in the 9th as Lemon scored on a sac fly to Wyrostek who chose to throw out the advancing Hack at third instead of going home.

     The Redcoats looked ready to come back in the 9th after doubles by Wyrostek and Edwards. Thomson came in to pinch hit for York and lined a single to right scoring Edwards but Thomson was thrown out at second trying to advance on the throw home. The last out came with Pittsburg caught one run short.

Higbe gains his first post-season win!

 

     The Conquerors started out hitting as they scored two runs in the first as Rowell started out the game with an error on Hack’s fly ball to left. Higbe had a difficult time getting the outs as he Reese singled and Cavaretta walked. With the bases loaded Lewis flied out to center and threw out Reese at third trying to advance. Hack scored on the play. Heath singled and Priddy singled before Hayes made the final out grounding out to second.

     The Conquerors scored again in the 4th on a sac fly by Walker.

     The Redcoats finally got on the board in the bottom of the fourth when they loaded the bases with Rowell coming to bat. Rowell ground to short a beat out the relay to first to break up the double play scoring Wyrostek. Schoendienst then hit a sac fly to score Edwards from third.

     In the bottom of the 6th Schoendienst came up with two outs and runners on first and second. He unloaded a double to deep center field scoring both runners. Mueller then followed with a triple to deep left center. Culberson was walked intentionally to pitch to the pitcher Higbe. Thomson was brought in to pinch hit and gained first base on an error by Priddy at second scoring another run on the play.

     The Redcoats brought in Zuber to pitch the last three innings, and he pitched scoreless ball only allowing one hit and three walks.

Redcoats late inning runs win the pennant!

 

     In the lowest scoring game of the series Pittsburg was able to squeeze out another win. Pittsburg scored 9 9th inning runs in this series alone. Pittsburg’s 15 9th inning runs proved to be fatal for the much touted Gotham Eagles in the Division series.

     The Redcoats started out the first inning scoring two runs as Edwards lined a double deep down the right field line scoring Pesky and Wyrostek.

     The Conqueror’s answered in the 4th with a home run by Heath to right. They scored again in the 6th with two runs to take the lead 3-2. Cavaretta started out with a single and Lewis doubled deep to left. Cavaretta and Lewis then scored each on a sac fly.

     The Redcoats started out the 9th with Culberson singling to left. Pesky then walked with Wyrostek coming up to bat. The Conquerors responded with Lefty Wallace coming in to pitch to Wyrostek and Edwards. Wyrostek grounded into a fielder’s choice leaving first and third occupied with Edwards coming up. Edwards walked loading the bases with two outs. Martin was brought in to pitch to York. The Redcoats responded by sending Richmond to pinch hit. Richmond lined a single up the middle scoring Culberson and Wyrostek.

     Behrman was brought in for Pittsburg to close out the 9th and earn the save.
