May 1975
The Boots' trade mark has typically been pitching, but now they have their 1st hitter of the month as George Scott takes the top spot thanks to a .853% slugging and 27 RBI to go along with his .379 batting average. Scott's slugging % & OPS are the highest for a hitter of the month since Hank Aarons chart breaking month in May 1973 where he had a .961% slugging & 1.423 OPS. Typically, Pitcher of the month can be a very difficult decision and this month it was again except for a different reason. Usually there are several very worthy candidates for the top spot, but this month it was very difficult to decide on a worthy candidate as with no disrespect to our winner, Savannah's Woody Fryman, I am not sure he would even make the list in another other month. However, for this month he was the best thanks to a 3-0 record and an ERA of only 1.75. This is the 2nd pitcher of the month for Savannah (the only 1972 expansion team to have a POM) as Fritz Peterson won the award in September 1973.

April 1975
Burbank's Mike Schmidt becomes the 3rd player to win back-to-back Hitter of the Month Awards as he ended 1974 as our winner and starts 1975 the same way. John Mayberry was the 1st to do it in 1972 and then Darrell Evans did it in 1973. Schmidt gets the nod after leading the BDWL in Hrs and Rbi beating out a red-hot Boog Powell who hit .388 for the month. Von Joshua who is leading the BDWL in hitting at .402 takes 3rd, while Fred Lynn who hit .389 takes 4th and Rod Carew who is leading the BDWL in runs scored with 26 takes 5th. The Pitcher of the Month Award was alot tougher to decide, but after much discussion San Diego's Jim Kaat walks away with the honor. Despite 2 loses, Kaat gets the win, since the 2 loses were truly hard luck loses and his overall performance for the month was outstanding with 7Qs. Just a tick behind, was Sleepytown's Frank Tanana who leads the BDWL in K's with 56. Northern's Phil Niekro who probably would have been #1 if he had managed another win takes 3rd after posting a 1.37 ERA. Our 4th & 5th place pitchers are both from St. Louis as Catfish Hunter with an OPS of .532 takes 4th and Rudy May with an OPS of .419 takes 5th.
