| Last month SLD's Tony Perez set a record for most time between wins but his record didn't stand very long as ORP's Jerry Koosman who was the very 1st Pitcher of the month in April 1970 is our winner this month. Koosman thanks to a 5-0 record and 1.31 ERA is the only ORP pitcher ever to win this award. Our May winner, SDC's Steve Busby continues his fine season and takes 2nd with a 4-1 record and .524 OPS. WSG finally gets some love as Jack Curtis takes 3rd with a 1.57 ERA & .477 OPS, BKB's Gaylord Perry no stranger to this list is 4th with a 6-1 record & .554 OPS and WLB's Mike Torrez is 5th with a 4-1 record & .595 OPs. Jeff Borroughs becomes the 1st CNC hitter to win the award since Yaz won it twice in 1970. Burroughs had a 1.176 OPS with 9 Hrs & 24 RBI. After 2 straight 4ths, BKB's Mike Schmidt moves up to 2nd after an 8 Hr & 28 RBI month. A bit of a surprise as TXF's John Milner hits .380 to take 3rd and APR's Craig Nettles takes 4th with 21 RBI. CTD's Davey Lopes has anther hot month hitting .373 to take the final spot. |

| SLD's Tony Perez sets a record for most time between wins as he orginally won this award way back in May 1970. Perez had the best all around performance, he didn’t led in a single category but did outstanding in all hitting a solid .343 with 29 RBI & 6 Hrs. ALC's Al Oliver hit a blistering .443 to finish 2nd, while PBC's Don Money hit .413 with a .641 slg% to finish 3rd. Mike Schmidt of BKB had 34 RBI and had 7 hrs to finish 4th. FMI's Rod Carew hit .417 with 25 runs scored to round out the list. Primarily on the strength of his no-hitter against the Chillis, Lynn McGlothen of WLB takes top spot for pitchers, but he was no slouch in his other games going 4-0 with 6 QS. DLH's Roger Moret also got himself a no hitter on his way to a 5-1 record with a 0.82 ERA & .442 OPS & was 2nd. Ron Reed of DLH was 3rd with a 4-0 record 0.92 ERA & 0.74 WHIP. We typically do not include a 3 loss pitcher on the list, but Vida Blue of SLD pitched no hitter and had 7 QS, a 0.77 WHIP & .478 OPS to make the list at #4. Our 5th place finisher, Doc Ellis, was 3-0 with a 0.56 ERA & .444 OPS. |

| SDC's Jim Wynn pounded the ball in June with 12 hrs & 28 RBI's to become only the 2nd SDC player to win the award. Wynn's amazing month prevented BKB's Bobby Grich from winning the award for the 2nd time this year as he hit .409 with 27 runs and settled for 2nd. CTD's Davey Lopes hit a sizzling .439 to finish 3rd while BKB's much hyped 3B, Mike Schmidt finally for rolling with 27 RBI to finish 4th. DLH's rookie, Mick the Quick, hit .400 with 25 runs for 5th. Our pitcher of the month, Jim Barr of CNC, had one of the most unusual but productive months as he did a little bit of everything. Barr appeared in 13 gms starting 3 of them and went 5-0 with 3 saves & 2 holds with a .520 OPS. Barr is the 1st CNC pitcher to win the award & last CNC player to win the award since Yaz won it twice in 1970. Chasing Barr was CTD's Larry Dieker who went 5-0, CNC's Luis Tiant who had 6 CG's. | The Outstanding Hitter award was very tightly contested this month as a strong case could be made for any of the top 4 this month. However, it was the 29 RBI that pushed DLH's Dick Allen to the top as he collects his 2nd POM award. FMI's Cedeno improves a spot and takes 2nd as his MVP type season continues hitting .337 with a 1.057 OPS. DLH's Joe Morgan hit .367, TXF's Willie Stargell (proving he still has gas in his tank) had a .677 slg% as they take 3rd and 4th. CTD's Eric Soderholm hit .385 and gets the 5th spot. San Diego's Steve Busby was almost unhittable in May (.382 OPS & 0.35 ERA) to take Pitcher of the Month becoming the 1st SDC pitcher ever to take the top spot. In just about any other month SLS's Catfish Hunter's 6-0 record would have won the award, but Hunter had to settle for 2nd this month. SLD's Frank Tanana goes 5-1 for the 3rd spot, ALC's Don Sutton takes 4th wiht 6 QS and BKB's Rick Reuschel is 5th after going 4-0. |
